The New York Yankees defeated the
Cleveland Indians on Sunday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 1-0. It was a great game that kept
the Yankees alive and headed to game four in NY on Monday night. Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and
he pitched great. Greg Bird was the only
offense for either team with a homerun.
Tanaka pitched seven innings giving
up three hits and no runs. He walked one
and struck out seven and earned the win.
David Robertson pitched 1/3 of an inning walking a batter and Aroldis
Chapman picked up the save pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up two hits and no
runs with no walks and four strikeouts.
Carlos Carrasco pitched 5 2/3
innings giving up three hits and no runs.
He walked three and struck out seven.
Andrew Miller took the loss pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit
and a run, Tyler Olson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck
out two and Joe Smith pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out
two.
Brett Gardner had a hit, Aaron
Judge drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit.
Didi Gregorious had a hit and drew two walks, Bird had a hit and an RBI
and Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk. Aaron
Hicks had a hit, Gardner hit a double and Bird hit a homerun. The Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring
position and left seven men on base.
Jason Kipnis had two hits, Jose
Ramirez had a hit and Carlos Santana had a hit and drew a walk. Michael Brantley drew a walk, Roberto Perez
had a hit and Kipnis hit a triple and the Indians were 0-4 with runners in
scoring position and left five men on base.
In the seventh Bird hit a solo
homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead and that would be the only run of the
game. The Yankees stayed alive and force
game four on Monday night in New York.
The Yankees will look to force a fifth and decisive game and if not the
Indians will advance to the ALCS.
