The New York Yankees defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night.
The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
and the final score was 6-0. Luis
Severino started for the Yankees and pitched great and Aaron Hicks, Gleyber
Torres and Giancarlo Stanton each had two hits.
Severino pitched seven innings
giving up six hits and no runs with no walks and nine strikeouts. Severino earned his 12th win of
the season. Adam Warren pitched an
inning with a strikeout and Chasen Shreve pitched an inning with a walk.
Jake Arrieta lost his sixth game of
the season pitching five innings and giving up nine hits and six runs with
three being earned. He walked one and
struck out five. Zac Curtis pitched two
innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Victor Arano pitched a
perfect inning and Hector Neris pitched an inning with two strikeouts.
Hicks had two hits and two RBI, Aaron Judge
had a hit and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI. Stanton had two hits, Torres had two hits and
two RBI and Greg Bird had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. Austin Romine had a hit, Romine and Torres
each hit a double and Hicks and Gregorius each hit a homerun. The Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position
and left seven men on base.
Cesar Hernandez had two hits,
Carlos Santana drew a walk and Scott Kingery had two hits. Andrew Knapp had a hit, Maikel Franco had a
hit and Franco hit a double. The
Phillies were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on
base. Hernandez committed an error and
Nick Williams had an outfield assist.
In the first Hicks hit a solo
homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
In the third Torres hit a two-run single to push the lead to 3-0. Bird hit an RBI single and it was 4-0. In the fourth Hicks hit a sac fly to make it
5-0 and in the fifth Gregorius hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 6-0
which was the final score.
The Yankees will go for the
three-game sweep on Wednesday night.
