The New York Yankees defeated the
Texas Rangers on Thursday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 7-3. J.A. Happ started for the
Yankees and he pitched well and the Yankees hit five homeruns including two by
Neil Walker.
Happ pitched six innings giving up four
hits and three runs with a walk and nine strikeouts and earned his 12th
game of the season. David Robertson
pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Dellin Betances
pitched an inning with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with
two walks and two strikeouts.
Ariel Jurado pitched five innings
giving up seven hits and six runs with three walks and a strikeout and he lost
his second game of the season. Matt Moore
pitched three innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts.
Brett Gardner had two hits,
Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit and drew a
walk. Aaron Hicks had a hit, two RBI and
drew a walk, Greg Bird drew a walk and Miguel Andujar had two hits and two
RBI. Walker had two hits and two RBI and
Hicks, Andujar and Stanton each hit a homerun.
Walker hit two homeruns and the Yankees were 1-1 with runners in scoring
position and left three men on base.
Shin-Soo Choo had a hit, two RBI
and drew a walk, Roughned Odor had a hit and Jurickson Profar had two hits and
an RBI. Robinson Chirinos drew two
walks, Willie Calhoun had a hit and drew a walk and Choo and Odor each hit a
double. Profar hit a homerun and the
Rangers were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Odor committed an error and Gallo had an
outfield assist.
In the first Hicks hit a two-run
homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth Profar hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1. In the bottom of the fourth Andujar hit a
two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 4-1. Walker hit a solo homerun to make it 5-1
going back-to-back. In the fifth Choo
hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 5-3.
In the bottom of the fifth Stanton hit a solo homerun to push the lead
to 6-3. In the sixth Walker hit his
second homerun of the game to extend the lead to 7-3 and that would be the
final score.
The two teams will play their
second game of four on Friday night.
