New York Yankees offense silent again as they fall just short of the Detroit Tigers

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Jonathan Loaisiga started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen pitched well also.  The Yankees offense was silent again as they couldn’t manage much of anything.

Loaisiga pitched four innings giving up a hit and a run with three walks and four strikeouts.  Jonathan Holder pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two, Chad Green took his first loss of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Zack Britton pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Matthew Boyd started for the Tigers and he pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with three walks and 13 strikeouts.  Buck Farmer pitched to two batters and struck them both out and earned his first win of the season.  Joe Jimenez pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Shane Greene pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his fourth save of the season.

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Luke Voit drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Greg Bird had a hit.  Clint Frazier had a hit and drew a walk, LeMahieu hit a double and the Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Judge had a stolen base and Gardner was caught stealing.  Sanchez committed an error.

Josh Harrison had a hit, Nick Castellanos drew a walk and Niko Goodrum had a hit and drew a walk.  Jeimer Candelario drew a walk, Christin Stewart had an RBI and Gordon Beckham had a hit and an RBI.  Goodrum hit a double and Beckham hit a homerun.  The Tigers were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Castellanos and Candelario each had a stolen base.  Cabrera committed an error.

In the third Judge hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Stewart hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Beckham hit a solo homerun to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.

The Yankees will now head to Baltimore with a 2-4 record and a lot of injuries.  The injuries have piled up and they really need to start to get some players back now.
