The New York Mets defeated the
Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night.
The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final
score was 3-1. Jacob deGrom started for
the Mets and he pitched well and Seth Lugo closed it out. Pete Alonso, Wilson Ramos and Amed Rosario
each had two hits to lead the offense.
deGrom pitched seven innings giving
up three hits and a run with a walk and 11 strikeouts. deGrom earned his ninth win of the
season. Lugo saved his fifth game of the
season pitching two perfect innings with four strikeouts.
Merrill Kelly pitched six innings
giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts. Kelly lost his 14th game of the
season. Yoan Lopez pitched to one batter
and got him out, Robby Scott pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and
Stefan Crichton pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out
two. T.J. McFarland pitched 2/3 of an inning.
Jeff McNeil had a hit, Alonso had
two hits and two RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk. Ramos had two hits, Robinson Cano had a hit
and Brandon Nimmo drew a walk. Rosario
had two hits and an RBI, Ramos hit a double and McNeil hit a double. Alonso hit two homeruns and the Mets were 1-6
with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Ramos committed an error.
Josh Rojas had a hit, Eduardo
Escobar had a hit and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI. Jarrod Dyson drew a walk, Flores hit a
homerun and the Diamondbacks were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left
two men on base. Dyson had a stolen
base.
In the first Alonso hit a solo
homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the fourth Rosario hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0. In the fifth Flores hit a solo homerun to cut
the lead to 2-1. In the fifth Alonso hit
hits second homerun of the game to extend the lead to 3-1 and that would be the
final score.
The two teams will play game two of
three on Tuesday night.
