New York Mets lose a slug fest to the Philadelphia Phillies


The New York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 10-7.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched ok and Wilson Ramos and Amed Rosario each had three hits to lead the offense.    

Syndergaard pitched five innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Paul Sewald pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and he took his first loss of the season, Luis Avilan pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs and Justin Wilson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts.  Tyler Bashlor pitched giving up a hit and a run with three walks and didn’t record an out, Daniel Zamora got out the only batter that he faced and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Vince Velasquez pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Jared Hughes pitched to one batter and walked him, Ranger Suarez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and won his fifth game of the season and Jose Alvarez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk.  Mike Morin pitched 1/3 of an inning, Blake Parker pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Nick Vincent pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Hector Neris pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two and saved his 24th game of the season. 

Jeff McNeil had two hits and drew a walk, Pete Alonso had a hit and Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk.  Ramos had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Robinson Cano had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and J.D. Davis had a hit and drew a walk.  Brandon Nimmo had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Rosario had three hits and Joe Panik had a hit and an RBI.  Ramos hit a double, Ramos and Cano each hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-16 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base.  McNeil committed an error and Conforto had an outfield assist. 

Cesar Hernandez had a hit, Jean Segura had two hits and an RBI and Corey Dickerson had a hit and two RBI.  Rhys Hoskins had two hits, Scott Kingery had a hit and two RBI and Adam Haseley had a hit and an RBI.  Phil Gosselin had a hit and an RBI, Sean Rodriguez drew a walk and Maikel Franco had two hits and two RBI.  Andrew Knapp had a hit and drew two walks, Jose Pirela had a hit and Bryce Harper had an RBI and drew a walk.  Hoskins hit two doubles and Franco hit a double.  Haseley, Franco and Kingery each hit a homerun and the Phillies were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Kingery and Segura each had a stolen base and Hernandez had two stolen bases. 

In the first Ramos hit a two-run homerun and Cano hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.  In the third Segura hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth Haseley hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the fifth Dickerson hit a two-run single to give the Phillies a 4-3 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Nimmo hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.  In the sixth Gosselin hit an RBI single and Franco hit a two-run homerun to make it 7-4.  In the sixth Ramos hit an RBI ground out and Cano hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 7-6.  In the seventh Kingery hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 9-6.  Harper drew an RBI walk and it was 10-6.  In the seventh Panik hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 10-7 but that would be the final score.
