The New York Mets defeated the
Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. The
game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was
11-1. Marcus Stroman started for the Mets
and pitched well. Juan Lagares lead the
offense with two hits and six RBI.
Stroman pitched 6 1/3 innings
giving up four hits and a run with four walks and six strikeouts and won his
eighth game of the season. Daniel Zamora
pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Chris Mazza
pitched 2 1/3 innings.
Alex Young pitched 2 2/3 innings
giving up five hits and six runs with one of them being earned. He walked two and struck out three and lost
his fourth game of the season. Yoan
Lopez pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout, Robby Scott pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Jimmie Sherfy
pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs and struck out two. Andrew Chafin pitched to one batter and got
him out, Kevin Ginkel pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and
Archie Bradley pitched 2/3 of an inning.
Matt Andriese pitched an inning giving up a hit.
Amed Rosario had a hit, Robinson
Cano had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and J.D. Davis had two hits and an
RBI. Michael Conforto had two hits, an
RBI and drew a walk, Todd Frazier had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Luis
Guillorme had a hit. Lagares had two
hits and six RBI, Tomas Nido had a hit and an RBI and Frazier, Cano and Nido
each hit a homerun. Conforto hit a
homerun and Lagares hit two homeruns.
The Mets were 2-4 with runners in scoring position andl eft three men on
base. Nido had a passed ball.
Ketel Marte drew a walk, Abraham
Almonte drew a walk and Josh Rojas had a hit.
Christian Walker drew a walk, Alex Avila had two hits and drew a walk
and Jarrod Dyson drew a walk. Ildemaro
Vargas had a hit and an RBI. Avila and
Vargas each hit a double and the Diamondbacks were 1-5 with runners in scoring
position and left nine men on base.
Ahmed committed an error.
In the second Frazier hit a solo
homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the third Davis hit an RBI single, Lagares hit a grand slam and it was 6-0
Mets. In the fifth Cano hit a solo
homerun and Lagares hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 9-0. Nido hit a solo homerun making it 10-0. In the seventh Vargas hit an RBI double to
cut the lead to 10-1. In the bottom of
the seventh Conforto hit a solo homerun and it was 11-1 which was the final
score.
The Mets swept the three-game
series from the Arizona Diamondbacks and will remain home to start a three-game
series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.
