The New York Yankees defeated the
Cleveland Indians on Saturday night. The
game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was
2-1. Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees
and he pitched great. The Yankees
offense didn’t do much but they were facing Shane Bieber.
Cole pitched seven innings giving
up three hits and a run with no walks and 11 strikeouts. He picked up his third win of the
season. Justin Wilson pitched 2/3 of an
inning giving up a walk and Jonathan Loaisiga picked up his first career save
pitching 1 1/3 innings.
Bieber pitched seven innings giving
up four hits and two runs with three walks and nine strikeouts. He lost his second game of the season. Bryan Shaw pitched an inning giving up a hit
and a walk with a strikeout and James Karinchak pitched a perfect inning
striking out the side.
Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Aaron
Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit. Gio Urshela drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a
hit and an RBI and Clint Frazier drew a walk.
Roughned Odor had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. Judge hit a double and Hicks and Odor each
hit a homerun. The Yankees were 0-5 with
runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
Jose Ramirez had a hit, Eddie
Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Roberto Perez had a hit and drew a walk. Perez hit a double, Ramirez hit a triple and
the Indians were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on
base. Rosario had a stolen base.
In the bottom of the fourth Rosario
hit an RBI single to give the Indians a 1-0 lead. In the fifth Hicks hit a solo homerun to tie
the game at one and Odor hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1
lead. 2-1 would be the final score.
The Yankees have taken the first three
games of the series and will look for the four-game sweep on Sunday
afternoon.
