The New York Yankees were defeated by
the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon.
The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final
score was 10-6. Jordan Montgomery
started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well. Luke Voit, Aaron Judge and Clint Frazier each
had two hits to lead the offense.
Montgomery pitched three innings
giving up six hits and five runs with two walks and four strikeouts. Michael King took his first loss of the
season pitching two innings and giving up two hits and a run with a walk, Lucas
Luetge pitched a perfect inning and Wandy Peralta pitched an inning giving up a
hit and two runs with a walk. Luis Cessa
pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and a
strikeout.
Adam Plutko pitched an inning
giving up four hits and four runs with a walk.
Bruce Zimmerman pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with
a walk and six strikeouts and won his second game of the season. Tanner Scott pitched 1/3 of an inning giving
up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Paul Fry pitched an inning with a
strikeout and Cesar Valdez pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run
with two strikeouts.
DJ LeMahieu had a hit, an RBI and drew
two walks, Voit had two hits and Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a
walk. Gary Sanchez had a hit and drew
two walks, Frazier had two hits and an RBI and Miguel Andujar had a hit. Tyler Wade had a hit, Sanchez, Frazier and
Judge each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring
position and left five men on base.
Cedric Mullins had a hit, Austin Hays
had a hit and drew a walk and Trey Mancini had a hit, an RBI and drew three
walks. Ryan Mountcastle had two hits and
four RBI, Pedro Severino had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks. Maikel Franco had three hits and three RBI,
Freddy Galvis had a hit and an RBI and Ryan McKenna had a hit. Mountcastle, Hays, Franco, Mullins and
Mancini each hit a double. Franco hit a
homerun and the Orioles were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left
seven men on base. Mullins had a stolen
base.
In the first Urshela hit into a
double play but a run scored to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead. Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to push the
lead to 3-0 and Frazier hit a solo homerun.
In the bottom of the first Mountcastle hit an RBI double, Severino hit
an RBI single and it was a 4-2 game. In
the third Judge hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 5-2. In the bottom of the third Mountcastle hit a
sac fly and Franco hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 5-4. Galvis hit an RBI single and the game was
tied 5-5. In the bottom of the fourth
Mancini hit an RBI double to make it a 6-5 game. In the bottom of the seventh Franco hit a
two-run homer pushing the Orioles lead to 8-5.
In the bottom of the eighth Mountcastle hit a two-run single making it
10-5. In the ninth LeMahieu hit an RBI
single to cut the lead to 10-6 and that would be the final score.
The Yankees will now head to Texas
to face the Rangers for a four-game set beginning on Monday night.
