The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night. The game took
place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 2-1. Nestor Cortes Jr. started for the
Yankees and he was wild but kept them in the game. The pen was great and the offense only managed
five hits.
Cortes pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs with four walks and three strikeouts.
Michael King pitched three perfect innings with three strikeouts and Clay Holmes pitched a
perfect inning with a strikeout.
Yusei Kikuchi started for the Blue Jays and he pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run. He
walked one and struck out seven, David Phelps pitched 1/3 of an inning with two walks, Tim Mayza
pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Yimi Garcia pitched an inning with a strikeout. Jordan
Romano saved his 12th game of the season pitching an inning giving up two hits and a walk with a
strikeout.
DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit. Josh Donaldson
had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks drew a walk and Joey Gallo had a hit, an RBI and drew a
walk. Kyle Higashioka had a hit which was a double. Gallo hit a homerun and they were 0-8 with
runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
Bo Bichette had a hit and drew a walk, Vlad Guerrero Jr. had a hit and an RBI and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
had a hit. Matt Chapman had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Santiago Espinal drew a walk and Vinny
Capra drew a walk. Bichette and Gurriel Jr. hit a double and Chapman hit a homerun. The Jays were
1-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
In the bottom of the second Chapman hit a solo homerun giving the Jays a 1-0 lead. In the third Gallo
hit a solo homerun tying the game at one. In the bottom of the third Guerrero Jr. hit an RBI single
giving the Jays a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score. The Yankees won two out of three and
saw their 11 game win streak end. They will come home and start a three-game series with the Texas
Rangers.
