New York Yankees lose to the Baltimore Orioles as they still await 62 from Aaron Judge

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, the bullpen pitched well.  Oswaldo Cabrera led the offense with two hits, the team only had four.  Aaron Judge had a hit and walked twice. 

German pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  German lost his fourth game of the season.  Zack Britton pitched to one batter and walked him, he then uncorked a wild pitch and left the game with an injury.  Ron Marinaccio pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two walks and striking out three, Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and Scott Effross pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Jordan Lyles started for the Orioles and he pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Lyles won his 12th game of the season.  Felix Bautista pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and DL Hall pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Judge had a hit and two walks, Cabrera had two hits and an RBI and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit.  Cabrera hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Kiner-Falefa had a stolen base, Trevino committed an error and Chapman had a pickoff. 

Cedric Mullins drew two walks, Adley Rutschman drew a walk and Anthony Santander drew a walk.  Ryan Mountcastle had a hit and an RBI, Gunnar Henderson had a hit and drew a walk and Roughned Odor had a hit.  Austin Hays had a hit and drew a walk, Kyle Stowers drew a walk and Jorge Mateo had a hit.  Hays hit a double and the Orioles were 1-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Mullins had two stolen bases and Odor was picked off. 

In the first Mountcastle hit an RBI single giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Cabrera tied the game with a solo homerun.  In the six a wild pitch allowed a run to score and give the Orioles a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.
