The New York Yankees defeated the
Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon.
The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the
final score was 8-0. Nestor Cortes
started for the Yankees and he pitched great.
Anthony Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, Josh Donaldson, Giancarlo Stanton and
Harrison Bader each had two hits each and Kyle Higashioka had three hits.
Cortes pitched 7 1/3 innings giving
up a hit and no runs. He walked two and
struck out 12. Cortes picked up his 12th
win of the season. Jacob Barnes pitched
1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two.
Austin Voth started for the Orioles
and he pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with two walks
and three strikeouts. Voth lost his
fourth game of the season. Spenser
Watkins pitched three innings giving up seven hits and four runs with a walk
and two strikeouts.
Aaron Judge drew two walks, Rizzo
had two hits and Torres had two hits and two RBI. Donaldson had two hits, two RBI and drew a
walk, Stanton had two hits and an RBI and Bader had two hits and an RBI. Higashioka had three hits and an RBI and
Oswald Peraza had a hit. Torres,
Donaldson and Bader each hit a double.
Stanton and Higashioka each hit a homerun. The Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring
position and left seven men on base.
Bader was caught stealing.
Ryan Mountcastle had a hit and drew
a walk, Adley Rutschman had a hit and Jorge Mateo had a hit and drew a
walk. Rutschman hit a double and the
Orioles were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on
base. Mullins had an outfield
assist.
In the bottom of the first Torres
hit an RBI double, Donaldson hit a sac fly and Stanton hit a solo homerun
giving the Yankees a 3-0 lead. In the
bottom of the second Higashioka hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to
4-0. In the bottom of the seventh Torres
hit an RBI single, Donaldson hit a two-run single and it was 7-0 Yankees. Bader hit an RBI double to make it 8-0 and
that would be the final score.
The two teams will play the third
and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon. It will also be the regular season final home
game for the Yankees as they will head to Texas after to begin a four game
series on Monday night.
