The New York Yankees defeated the Cincinnati
Reds on Saturday. The game took place at
Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio and the final score was 7-4 in ten
innings. Jhony Brito started for the
Yankees and he wasn’t very good, he didn’t have his control. The bullpen pitched great and Aaron Judge led
the offense with four hits.
Brito pitched four innings giving
up four hits and four runs with four walks and six strikeouts. Ron Marinaccio pitched two innings giving up
a walk and he struck out three, Michael King pitched two innings giving up a
hit and he struck out three and Clay Holmes won his second game of the season
pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout.
Ryan Weber pitched an inning with a strikeout and earned his first save
of the season.
Luke Weaver started for the Reds and
he pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with four
strikeouts. Alex Young pitched 2/3 of an
inning giving up two hits, Buck Farmer pitched 1 2/3 innings with two
strikeouts and Lucas Sims pitched 1 1/3 innings with a walk and two
strikeouts. Alexis Diaz pitched a
perfect inning with a strikeout and Ian Gibaut pitched an inning giving up
three hits and three runs with two being earned. He lost his first game of the season.
Gleyber Torres had two hits, Judge
had four hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Anthony Rizzo had two hits and
three RBI. DJ LeMahieu had a hit,
Harrison Bader had a hit and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and an RBI. Ben Rortvedt had two hits including a double
and Judge also hit a double.
Kiner-Falefa and Rizzo each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-10 with
runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Bader had a stolen base and Brito had a
pickoff.
Jonathan India had a hit and drew a
walk, Matt McLain drew two walks and Jake Fraley had a hit, an RBI an drew a
walk. Spencer Steer had a hit and an
RBI, Tyler Stephenson drew a walk and Jose Barrero had a hit. Luke Maile had a hit, two RBI and drew a
walk. India hit a double and Maile hit a
homerun, the Reds were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men
on base. Fraley was caught stealing and
was picked off. Myers had an outfield
assist.
In the bottom of the first Fraley
hit an RBI single giving the Reds a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the third Judge hit an RBI single tying the game at
one. In the bottom of the third Steer
hit an RBI single giving the Reds a 2-1 lead and in the bottom of the fourth
that increased to 4-1 on a Maile two-run homerun. In the top of the fifth Kiner-Falefa hit a
solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2 and Judge hit an RBI double making it
4-3. Rizzo hit an RBI single and the game
was tied at four. In the top of the
tenth Judge hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 5-4 lead and Rizzo hit a
two-run homerun making it 7-4 which would be the final score.
The Yankees will look for the sweep
tomorrow morning.
