New York Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Luis Gil started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen used three relievers and they also pitched well.  Aaron Judge led the offense with two hits and two RBI. 

Gil pitched six innings giving up a hit and no runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Gil won his eighth game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Ian Hamiliton pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Luke Weaver pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Bailey Ober started for the Twins and he pitched five innings giving up three hits and three runs with four walks and two strikeouts.  Ober lost his fourth game of the season.  Cole Sands pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Caleb Thielbar pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Anthony Volpe had a hit, Juan Soto drew two walks and Judge had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and two RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI and Jose Trevino had a hit.  DJ LeMahieu drew a walk.  Judge hit a double, Torres and Stanton each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Royce Lewis had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Willi Castro drew a walk and Christian Vazquez had a hit.  Vazquez hit a double and Lewis hit a homerun.  The Twins were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the bottom of the second Torres hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the third Judge hit a two-run double extending the lead to 3-0.  In the seventh Lewis hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the eighth Stanton hit a two-run homerun pushing the lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.
