New York Yankees take down the San Francisco Giants behind Aaron Judge Power

 

The New York Yankees defeated the San Francisco Giants on Friday night.  The game took place at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California and the final score was 6-2.  Marcus Stroman started for the Yankees, and he pitched well and Luke Weaver finished the game strong.  Aaron Judge led the offense with a couple of hits and four RBI and Anthony Rizzo added a couple of hits. 

Stroman pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Stroman earned his fifth win of the season and Weaver pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Jordan Hicks started for the Giants, and he took his second loss of the season.  He pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with four being earned.  He struck out four.  Taylor Rogers pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a strikeout, Luke Jackson pitched a perfect inning and Sean Hjelle pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout. 

Anthony Volpe had a hit, Juan Soto had a hit and Judge had two hits and four RBI.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, Rizzo had two hits and Austin Wells had a hit.  Wells and Rizzo each hit a double and Judge hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Grisham had an outfield assist. 

Mike Yastrzemski had a hit and an RBI, Thairo Estrada had two hits and Matt Chapman had a hit.  Patrick Bailey had two hits and drew a walk, Jorge Soler had an RBI and Trenton Brooks had a hit and drew a walk.  Yastrzemski hit a double and the Giants were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Estrada was caught stealing and Wisely committed an error.  Bailey had a passed ball. 

In the bottom of the second Soler hit a sac fly to give the Giants a 1-0 lead.  In the top of the third Judge hit a three-run homerun giving the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  In the sixth Judge hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 4-1.   A passed ball scored two runs and the Yankees lead was extended to 6-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Yastrzemski hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 6-2 but that was as close as they would get.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.
