The New York Mets defeated the Chicago White Sox by the score of 1-0 on Tuesday night. The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. Matt Harvey started and pitched brilliantly. Mike Baxter was the hero in this game with the game winning hit.
Harvey pitched nine shutout and one hit innings. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out 12 which was one of the best pitching performances of all-time. Bobby Parnell pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. He got the win and is now 3-0 on the season.
Ruben Tejada had a hit, Daniel Murphy had a hit and David Wright drew a walk. Andre Brown drew a walk, Ike Davis had a hit and drew a walk and Juan Lagares had a hit. Baxter had a hit and an RBI, the Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Murphy was caught stealing.
Alex Rios had a hit, he was the only base runner of the game for the White Sox. They left one man on base and that was it.
In the tenth Baxter had an RBI single to win the game. This was a very well pitched game on both sides with not much offensive action.
The Mets record improved to 13-16 and the White Sox record dropped to 13-18. The two teams will play game two of their brief two game series on Wednesday night

The New York Mets salvage the final game of the series in St. Louis
The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. R.A. Dickey started for the Mets and pitched well. Mike Baxter and Ike Davis led the Mets offense. Adam Wainwright started for the Cardinals and didn’t pitch that well. Jon Jay and Descalso led the Cardinals offense.
Dickey pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts. Dickey picked up his 18th win of the season, Josh Edgin struck out the only batter he faced and Jon Rauch pitched a perfect inning. Frank Francisco pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out one. Wainwright pitched five innings giving up eight hits and five runs with two walks and five strikeouts. He lost his 12th game of the season, Shelby Miller pitched two innings giving up a hit and striking out four and Victor Marte didn’t record an out giving up three hits and a run. Marc Rzepczynski pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Sam Freeman pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out the side.

Lucas Duda had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Justin Turner had two hits and Josh Thole had two hits and an RBI. Andres Torres had a hit and an RBI, Turner hit two doubles and Duda hit a double. Davis hit a homerun, the Mets were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Tejada committed an error and Baxter had an outfield assist.
Jay had two hits, Lance Berkman had a hit and Matt Carpenter drew a walk. Shane Chambers had a hit, Daniel Descalso had two hits and Tony Cruz had a hit. Wainwright had a hit and an RBI, Jackson had a hit and Wainwright hit a homerun. The Cardinals were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
In the second Thole hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 1-0 lead. Duda had an RBI walk in the third to give the Mets a 2-0 lead and Wainwright hit a solo homerun to make it a one run game in the third. Davis hit a three run homerun in the fifth to pad the Mets lead to 5-1. In the seventh Allen Craig hit into a double play scoring a run and making it a 5-2 game. Torres hit an RBI single in the eighth to push the lead to 6-2 and that was the final score.
The Mets lost two out of three in the series. The Mets record improved to 65-72 and the Cardinals record fell to 74-63. The Mets will have the day off on Thursday and then begin a three game series against the Atlanta Braves on Friday.

The Mets lose to the Rockies at Citi Field
The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies by the score of 3-1 on Monday night. The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. R.A. Dickey started for the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen had mixed results. Mike Baxter led the Mets offense. White started for the Rockies and pitched well for the four innings that he pitched. The Rockies bullpen pitched well and Colvin led the Rockies offense.
Dickey pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and six strikeouts. Josh Edgin took the loss pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run which was unearned, Jon Rauch pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Ramon Ramirez struck out the only batter that he faced. Alex White pitched four innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and four strikeouts. Guillermo Moscoso pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts, Rex Brothers picked up his seventh win of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks with two strikeouts. Matt Belisle pitched to one batter and retired him and Rafael Betancourt picked up his 24th save of the season pitching an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.
