The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox




The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday afternoon.  The game took place at Jet Blue Park in Fort Myers, Florida and the final score was 5-4.   Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and he pitched just ok.  Chance Adams made his first appearance of the spring and pitched well and Justus Sheffield looked ok.  Greg Bird had two hits and three RBI to lead the offense. 

Cessa pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Matt Wotherspoon pitched an inning with a walk, Adams pitched two innings giving up a hit with a walk and a strikeout and Sheffield pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  He got the win.  Jason Gurka pitched 1/3 of an inning striking out one and Yefrey Ramirez pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts. 

Ronald Torreyes had a hit, Pete Kozma had a hit and Rob Refsnyder had a hit.  Zach Zehner had a hit and an RBI, Bird had two hits and three RBI and Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk.  Billy McKinney drew a walk, Kyle Higashioka had two hits and Kellin Deglan had a hit and drew a walk.  Mark Payton had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. 

In the first Bird hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Sandoval hit an RBI double to make it 2-1.  Deven Marrero hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the sixth Bird hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  Sam Travis homered in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at three.  In the seventh Zehner hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead and then Torres hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-3.  In the bottom of the eighth Matt Dominguez hit an RBI double to make it 5-4 but that would be the final score.

The New York Yankees defeat the Detroit Tigers


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday afternoon.  The game took place at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 9-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Brett Gardner, Gary Sanchez and Chase Headley each had tow hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched two innings giving up no hits or runs and he struck out two.  Tommy Layne picked up the win pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Ben Heller pitched an inning with two walks and Chasen Shreve pitched an inning with two hits.  Holder pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with three strikeouts and Frare pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run.  Coshow pitched a perfect inning. 

Gardner had two hits, Clint Frazier had a hit and two RBI and Jacoby Ellsbury drew two walks.  Sanchez had two hits and two RBI, Matt Holliday drew a walk and Chris Carter had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI, Headley had two hits and an RBI and Thairo Estrada had a hit and an RBI.  Ruben Tejada had a hit and an RBI, Jorge Mateo had a hit and Headley and Frazier each hit a double.  Sanchez, Carter and Estrada each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 5-12 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base and Headley and Tejada each committed an error. 

In the third Sanchez hit a two run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Carter hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  Tejada hit an RBI single and it was 4-0 Yankees.  IN the fifth Castro hit an RBI single to make it a 5-0 game.  Headley hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 6-0.  Frazier hit a two run double in the fifth and it was 8-0 Yankees.  In the seventh Dominic Ficociello hit a three run homerun to cut the lead to 8-3.  Dixon Machado hit an RBI double and it was 8-4 Yankees.  In the bottom of the seventh Estrada hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 9-4 lead and Alex Presley hit a solo homerun in the eighth to make it 9-5 which would be the final score. 








The New York Mets lose to the Houston Astros




The New York Mets were defeated by the Houston Astros on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 5-2.  P.J. Conlon started for the Mets and pitched well, Rafael Montero also pitched well and Jeurys Familia struggled in his one inning of work.  The Mets offense only managed four hits. 

Conlon pitched two innings giving up a hit and no runs with a walk.  Familia pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run, Montero pitched two innings striking out four and Hansel Robles pitched two perfect innings with a couple of strikeouts.  Josh Edgin pitched an inning with two walks and Tom Gorzelanny pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs with three walks and a strikeout. 
Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and an RBI, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and David Wright had a hit.  Jay Bruce drew

a walk, Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI and Cabrera hit a homerun and so did Flores.  The Mets were 0-1

with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Taijeron and Stuart each had an outfield assist

The New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles




The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida and the final score was 4-1.  Chad Green started for the Yankees and continued the trend by pitching two scoreless innings.  Greg Bird hit two doubles and Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI.  Thairo Estrada hit a three run homerun. 

Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk, Evan Rutckyj pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Giovanny Gallegos pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out two.  Matt Marsh pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out two, Joe Mantiply pitched a perfect inning and Kyle Haynes pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he earned the save. 

Ji-Man Choi drew a walk, Austin Romine had a hit and Bird had two hits.  Judge had a hit and an RBI, Clint Frazier had a hit and Kellin Deglan had a hit.  Estrada had a hit and three RBI.  Dustin Fowler had a hit and drew a walk and Bird hit two doubles and Frazier also hit a double.  Judge hit a triple and Estrada hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Fowler had a stolen base and Judge had an outfield assist. 

In the first Judge reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored to make it 1-0.  In the third Jonathan Schoop hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the ninth Estrada hit a three run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead and that would be the final score.   

The New York Mets defeat the Detroit Tigers




The New York Mets defeated the Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 5-2.  Paul Sewald started for the Mets and pitched well Addison Reed had a scoreless inning as well and the offense was led by Michael Conforto and Matt Reynolds who each had a couple of hits. 

Sewald pitched two innings giving up no hits and no runs with a walk.  Reed won the game pitching an inning and giving up a hit, David Roseboom pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Ben Rowen pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Chasen Bradford pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Corey Taylor pitched an inning giving up a hit.  He earned the save. 

Jose Reyes had a hit and an RBI, Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Champ Stuart drew a walk.  Conforto had two hits and an RBI, Luis Guillorme had a hit and Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and an RBI.  Tomas Nido had a hit and an RBI, Brandon Nimmo had a hit and Ty Kelly drew two walks.  Dominic Smith had a hit and Reynolds had two hits.  Smith hit a double and Guillorme hit a triple.  Conforto hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.   

In the third Reyes hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth d’Arnaud hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Mets.  Conforto hit a solo homerun in the sixth to push the lead to 3-0.  In the seventh Rosario hit an RBI single and it was 4-0 Mets.  In the eighth Tyler Collins hit a two run single for the Tigers to cut the lead to 4-2.  Nido hit an RBI single in the eighth to make it a 5-2 game and that would be the final score.
