The New York Yankees lose but the story is Michael Pineda and pine tar

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 5-1.  Michael Pineda started but was ejected in the second inning after pine tar was discovered on his neck.  The Yankees bullpen pitched well but their defense was sloppy and the offense didn't do much off of John Lackey.
Pineda pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He didn't walk or strikeout a batter and he took the loss which was his second of the season.  It was such a short start because of the immediate ejection upon the finding of the pine tar.  It is expected he will be suspended as well for at least one start and maybe two.  David Phelps pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs which were unearned.  He walked three and struck out four.  Matt Thornton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out one, Preston Claiborne pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning.
John Lackey picked up his third win of the season.  He pitched eight innings giving up one run on seven hits with 11 strikeouts.  Koji Uehara pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out the side.
Carlos Beltran had two hits, Brian McCann had a hit and Alfonso Soriano had a hit and an RBI.  Brett Gardner had a hit, Brian Roberts had two hits and Kelly Johnson had a hit.  Johnson and Beltran each hit a double and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Johnson had a stolen base and Jeter, Johnson and Warren each committed an error.
Grady Sizemore had a hit, Dustin Pedroia had two hits and an RBI and David Ortiz had a hit and drew a walk.  Mike Napoli had three hits and an RBI, A.J. Pierzynski had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Xander Bogaerts had a hit.  Brock Holt had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  Napoli hit a double and Sizemore hit a triple.  The Red Sox were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Napoli was caught stealing.
In the first Pedroia hit an RBI single and Pierzynski hit an RBI single to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Napoli hit an RBI double and a wild pitch scored another run to make it 4-0.  The Yankees got on the board in the sixth on a Soriano sacrifice fly.  The Red Sox would lead 4-1 and add another run in the eighth to extend the lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score.  The series is tied at one game each with the rubber game on Thursday night.
