The New York Yankees defeated the
Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night. The
game took place at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington and the final score was
3-2. Vidal Nuno started and pitched
well, the bullpen was ok. Derek Jeter
had two hits and Jacoby Ellsbury had the game winning hit.
Nuno pitched 5 2/3 innings giving
up four hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts. Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving
up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and he won his fourth game of the
season. Adam Warren pitched an inning
giving up a hit and David Robertson saved his 15th game of the season pitching
an inning giving up a walk and striking out the sides.
Hisashi Iwakuma pitched 7 1/3
innings giving up seven hits and three runs.
He walked two and struck out five and lost his third game of the
season. Charlie Furbush pitched 1 2/3
innings giving up a hit and striking out two.
Brett Gardner had a hit, Jeter had
two hits and drew a walk and Ellsbury had a hit and an RBI. Mark Teixeira had a hit, Carlos Beltran had
two hits and an RBI and Brian McCann had a hit and an RBI. Brian Roberts drew a walk. Beltran and Jeter each hit a double and the
Yankees were 3-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on
base. Roberts was caught stealing.
Robinson Cano had two hits,
Gillespie had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Kyle Seager had a hit. Mike Zunino had a hit, Dustin Ackley had a hit, an
RBI and drew a walk and Brad Miller had a hit.
Cano and Zunino each hit a double and the Mariners were 2-8 with runners
in scoring position and left seven men on base.
Gillespie was caught stealing.
The Yankees jumped out to a 2-0
lead in the first inning. Beltran hit an
RBI double and McCann an RBI single. The
Mariners came right back with a run in the bottom of the first on a Gillespie
RBI single. The Mariners tied the game
in the seventh on an Ackley RBI single.
The Yankees took a 3-2 lead in the eighth on an Ellsbury RBI single and
that would be the final score. The two
teams will play game two of their three game series on Wednesday night.
