The New York Mets were defeated by
the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night.
The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final
score was 3-2. Bartolo Colon pitched
well, David Wright, Travis d'arnaud and Matthew den Dekker each had two
hits.
Colon pitched seven innings giving
up six hits and two runs with one of them being earned. He walked one and struck out eight and lost
his 10th game of the season. Jeurys
Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit, a run and a walk and Vic Black
pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two.
Jordan Zimmerman pitched 6 1/3
innings giving up five hits and an unearned run. He walked none and struck out four and earned
his eighth win of the season. Drew
Storen pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one, Tyler Clippard pitched an
inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Rafael Soriano saved his 27th
game of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run.
Curtis Granderson had a hit, Wright
had two hits and Lucas Duda had a hit.
d'Arnaud had two hits and an RBI, den Dekker had two hits and Wilmer
Flores had a hit. d'arnaud hit a homerun
and the Mets were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on
base. Young Jr. had a stolen base and
Lagares committed an error.
Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and an
RBI, Anthony Rendon had a hit and Adam LaRoche had a hit and drew two
walks. Ian Desmond had a hit, Bryce
Harper had a hit and an RBI and Wilson Ramos had two hits. Kevin Frandsen had a hit and an RBI, Ramos
and LaRoche each had a double and Cabrera hit a homerun. The Nationals were 3-9 with runners in scoring
position and left six men on base. LaRoche had a stolen base and committed an
error. Frandsen and Ramos each committed
an error and Frandsen had an outfield assist.
D'Arnaud reached on a fielding
error and a run scored to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the seventh Harper had a sacrifice fly to
tie the game at one and Frandsen hit a sacrifice fly to give the Nats a 2-1
lead. Cabrera hit a solo homerun in the
eighth to make it a 3-1 game. d'Arnaud
hit a solo homerun in the ninth to cut the lead to 3-2 and that would be the
final score. The Mets have lost two
straight to the Nationals and will look to avoid the sweep on Thursday
night. They have lost 10 straight at
home to the Washington Nationals.
