The New York Mets defeated the
Miami Marlins by the score of 7-1 on Monday afternoon. The game took place at Tradition Field in
Port St. Lucie, Florida. Rafael Montero
started and pitched well. Lucas Duda led
the offense with a couple of hits.
Montero pitched six innings giving
up two hits and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts. Montero won his second game of the
spring. Carlos Torres pitched an inning
giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Jeurys Familia pitched 2/3 of an
inning retiring both batters and Scott Rice pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up
a hit. Jennry Mejia pitched an inning
giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout.
Juan Lagares had a hit, Curtis
Granderson drew a walk and Cesar Puello had a hit. David Wright had a hit, Duda had two hits and
five RBI and Michael Cuddyer had a hit and two RBI. Wilmer Flores had a hit, Ruben Tejada had a
hit and Duda and Flores each hit a double.
Duda and Cuddyer each hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-5 with runners
in scoring position and left two men on base.
In the fourth Duda hit a two run
homerun to take a 2-0 lead. In the sixth
Duda hit a three run double to make it a 5-0 lead. Cuddyer hit a two run homerun in the sixth to
make it 7-0. In the ninth Don Kelly hit
an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-1 which was the final score.
