The New York Mets are shutout an no hit by the San Francisco Giants



The New York Mets were defeated by the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Noah Syndergaard pitched ok and the Mets offense did nothing. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up ten hits and four runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Dillon Gee pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and Sean Gilmartin pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with a strikeout. 

Chris Heston won his sixth game of the season pitching a complete game allowing no hits and no walks and striking out eleven. 

The Mets had two players reach base by getting hit by pitches and that was it.  They were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Michael Cuddyer had an outfield assist.

Nori Aoki had two hits, Joe Panik had two hits and an RBI and Angel Pagan had an RBI.  Buster Posey had three hits, Brandon Belt drew a walk and Brandon Crawford had a hit.  Matt Duffy had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Justin Maxwell had a hit and Heston had two hits and two RBI.  Posey hit a double, Duffy and Panik each hit a homerun.  The Giants were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Pagan hit an RBI groundout to give the Giants a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Heston hit a two run single giving the Giants a 3-0 lead.  In the sixth Duffy hit a solo homerun and in the seventh Panik hit a solo homerun to make it 5-0 which would be the final score.  The story of the game was the no hitter by rookie pitcher Heston.  The two teams will play Wednesday night.
