The New York Mets lose second in a row to the San Francisco Giants



The New York Mets were defeated by the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field and the final score was 8-5.  Matt Harvey started and wasn't good and Curtis Granderson, Wilmer Flores and Juan Lagares each had two hits. 

Harvey pitched six innings giving up nine hits and seven runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Harvey lost his fourth game of the season.  Alex Torres pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts, Carlos Torres pitched an inning giving up a hit and Jack Leathersich pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run.  Hansel Robles gave up a hit, Sean Gilmartin pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one. 

Tim Hudson won his fourth game of the season pitching five innings giving up eight hits and four runs with two walks and a strikeout.  George Kontos pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out two, Jeremy Affeldt struck out the only player that he faced and Hunter Strickland pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out both players.  Sergio Romo pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and Santiago Casilla pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and picked up his 18th save of the season. 

Granderson had two hits, Lucas Duda had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Michael Cuddyer had a hit.  Flores had two hits and two RBI, Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and Lagares had two hits and an RBI.  Eric Campbell had a hit and an RBI, John Mayberry Jr. had a hit and Granderson, flores and d'Arnaud each hit a double.  Lagares hit a triple and the Mets were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Cuddyer and Granderson committed an error and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

In the first Panik hit a two run homerun to give the Giants a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Flores hit a two run single to tie the game at two.  Campbell hit an RBI single to make it 3-2 in the fourth.  In the fifth Duda hit an RBI single to make it 4-2 Mets.  In the sixth Posey hit a two run double to tie the game at four.  In the sixth Belt hit a two run homerun and it was 6-4 Giants, Maxwell hit a solo homerun to make it 7-4.  In the eighth Lagares hit an RBI triple to cut the lead to 7-5 and in the ninth Posey hit an RBI double to make it an 8-5 game and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Thursday night.  The Mets will look to salvage one game of the series.
