The New York Mets defeated the
Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon. The
game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was
4-3. Bartolo Colon pitched well and had
an RBI double. The Mets only managed six
hits and no player had more than a hit.
Colon pitched seven innings giving
up six hits and three runs with two strikeouts.
Carlos Torres pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out
one and Jeurys Familia pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and striking
out two and he picked up his 15th save of the season.
David Phelps pitched six innings
giving up four hits and three runs with two of them being earned. He struck out two batters. Pat Cishek lost his fith game of the season
pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a
strikeout, Mike Dunn pitched to one batter and retired him and Matt Capps
pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.
Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Ruben
Tejada had a hit adn an RBI and Daniel Murphy had a hit. Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI, Juan
Lagares had a hit and Anthony Recker had a hit.
Colon had a hit and an RBI, Colon and Tejada each hit a double and
Flores hit a homerun. the Mets were 2-9
with runners in scoring position and left fiv emen on base. Lagares had a stolen base.
Dee Gordon had two hits, Martin
Prado had a hit and Justin Bour had two hits and an RBI. Ichiro Suzuki had a hit, Donovan Solano had a
hit and Christian Yelich had a hit and an RBI.
Marcell Ozuna had a hit, Jhonatan Solano had an RBI and Yelich hit a
double. Bour hit a homerun adn the
Marlins were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on
base. Bour committed an error.
In the first Flores reached on a
fielding error and a run scored to make it 1-0 Mets. In the second Yelich hit an RBI groundout to
tie the game at one. Colon hit an RBI
double in the bottom of the second to give the Mets a 2-1 lead. In the third Flores hit a solo homerun and it
was 3-1 Mets. In the fifth Solano hit an
RBI groundout to trim the lead to 3-2 Mets.
In the sixth Bour hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three. Tejada hit an RBI double in the seventh to
make it 4-3 Mets and that would be the final score. The Mets lost two out of three in the series
and the Mets will head to the West Coast to take on the Padres on Monday night
to begin a three game series.
