The New York
Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night. The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the
Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.
CC Sabathia started and pitched very well, the bullpen did their job and
Jacoby Ellsbury and Alex Rodriguez each had two hits.
Sabathia pitched
six innings giving up a run on three hits.
He walked three and struck out eight.
Justin Wilson picked up his fourth win of the season pitching an inning
and giving up a hit but striking out the side, Dellin Betances pitched an
inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Andrew Miller picked up his
24th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a walk with
a strikeout.
Eduardo
Rodriguez pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with two walks
and five strikeouts. Robbie Ross Jr.
pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.
Ellsbury had two
hits and an RBI, Brett Gardner had a hit and Rodriguez had two hits, an RBI and
drew a walk. Mark Teixeira drew a walk,
Brendan Ryan had a hit and Rodriguez hit a double. Ellsbury hit a homerun and the Yankees were
0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
Rusney Castillo
had a hit and an RBI, Xander Bogaerts drew a walk and Hanley Ramirez had a
hit. Pablo Sandoval drew a walk, Ryan
Hanigan had two hits and Travis Shaw had a hit.
Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and drew two walks. The Red Sox were 1-5 with runners in scoring
position and left nine men on base.
Ramirez had a stolen base.
In the third
Rodriguez hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead. In the fifth Castillo hit an RBI single to
tie the game at one. In the seventh
Ellsbury hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees the 2-1 lead and that would be
the final score. The Yankees took two
out of three in the series and will begin a series with the second place
Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night. The
Yankees in their last series have gone 8-0-1 and that dates back to the end of
June. They have a six game lead in the
loss column beginning play on Friday.
