The New York Yankees defeated the
Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. The
game took place at Jet Blue Park in Fort Myers, Florida and the final score was
6-3 Yankees. Ivan Nova started for the
Yankees and pitched well. Dustin Ackley
had two hits to lead the Yankees offense.
Nova pitched four innings giving up
three hits and a run with a walk and four strikeouts. Bryan Mitchell pitched three innings giving
up a hit and he struck out one, Nick Rumbelow pitched an inning giving up four
hits and a run with a strikeout and Nick Goody pitched an inning giving up
three hits and a run.
Aaron Hicks had a hit and an RBI,
Cesar Puello had a hit and two RBI and Ronald Torreyes drew a walk. Ackley had two hits, Cito Culver had a hit
and two RBI and Gary Sanchez had a hit.
Ben Gamel had a hit which was a double and Culver hit a double. Hicks hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-6
with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Silva had a stolen base and Pete Kozma
committed an error.
In the first David Ortiz grounded
into a double play and a run scored giving the Red Sox a 1-0 lead. In the third Hicks hit a solo homerun to tie
the game at one. In the eighth Puello
hit a two run single to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead. Silva reached on a throwing error and a run
scored to push the lead to 4-1, Culver hit a two run double and it was 6-1
Yankees. In the eighth Deven Marrero hit
an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-2 and in the ninth Sam Travis hit an RBI
double to cut the lead to 6-3 which would be the final score. The Yankees improved their spring record to
4-8 with a couple of ties. The Yankees
will play at home in Tampa against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday
night.
