New York Yankees lose to the Kansas City Royals



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-3.  Michael Pineda started and was terrible in the first but then settled down and struggled in the end also.  Carlos Beltran had two hits and Aaron Hicks had three hits. 

Pineda pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and six runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.  He lost his fourth game of the season.  Nick Goody gave up a hit and didn't record an out and Phil Coke pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks. 

Yordano Ventura pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and a strikeout.  Ventura won his third game of the season.  Danny Duffy pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Kelvin Herrera pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Wade Davis pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner drew two walks, Starlin Castro had a hit and Brian McCann had an RBI.  Beltran had two hits and an RBI, Hicks had three hits and Chase headley had a hit and an RBI.  Castro and Beltran each hit a double and Beltran hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-13 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Alcides Escobar had a hit, Lorenzo Cain had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Eric Hosmer had two hits.  Kendrys Morales had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Alex Gordon had an RBI and drew a walk and Salvador Perez had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Cheslor Cuthbert had a hit, Christian Colon had a hit and drew a walk and Jarrod Dyson had a hit.  Perez and Morales each hit a homerun and the Royals were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Escobar was caught stealing. 

In the first Gordon hit a sac fly, Perez hit a three run homerun and it was 4-0 Royals.  IN the second Beltran hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the second Headley  hit an RBI single to make it a 4-2 game.  McCann hit an RBI groundout in the fifth and it was 4-3 Royals.  In the sixth Cain hit a two run single and in the seventh Morales  hit a solo homerun and it was 7-3 Royals which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Thursday night.  The Yankees will then close out their ten game homestand with a three game set against the Chicago White Sox.
