The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Monday night or early Tuesday

the fourth inning and they kept playing through it until the ninth inning when the tarp was put on

with a man on first and no outs and a 3-1 count to the batter.  The delay was so long that the

Desmond hit a solo homerun in the first giving Texas a 1-0 lead.  In the second Headley hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the second Hicks hit an RBI ground out to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  Desmond hit an RBI groundout in the third to tie the game at two.  In the bottom of the third Castro hit an RBI single giving the Yankees back the lead at 3-2.  Choo hit a two run single in the fourth giving the Rangers a 4-3 lead.  In the fifth McCann hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.  In the bottom of the fifth Gregorius hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 5-4 lead.  Teixeira hit a solo homerun in the seventh to extend the lead to 6-4.  In the eighth Odor hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-5.  In the ninth Beltre hit a two run single giving the Rangers a 7-6 lead and then Andrus hit a two run single to extend the lead to 9-6 which would be the final score.  The game was delayed at 10:40PM and not resumed until 2:15AM and ended at roughly 2:45AM.  It was a pretty bizarre night into early morning.

The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night.
