The New York
Yankees defeated the San Francisco Giants on Friday night. The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the
Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-2.
Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched very well, the
bullpen sprung a leak but hung in there.
Starlin Castro lead the offense with three hits.
Tanaka pitched
six innings giving up four hits and no runs with two walks and four
strikeouts. Dellin Betances pitched an
inning giving up a run and a walk with two strikeouts, Andrew Miller pitched an
inning giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman
saved his 20th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he
struck out one.
Madison
Bumgarner pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and two runs with three
walks and six strikeouts. Josh Osich
pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Sergio Romo
pitched to two batters and retired them
both.
Brett Gardner
had a hit, Castro had three hits and an RBI and Carlos Beltran had two hits, an
RBI and drew two walks. Chase Headley
had a hit, Rob Refsnyder drew a walk and Mark Teixeira drew a walk. Ronald Torreyes had a hit, Castro hit a
double and the Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine
men on base. Refsnyder committed an
error and Beltran had an outfield assist.
Denard Span had
two hits, Buster Posey had a hit and drew a walk and Trevor Brown had a
hit. Brandon Crawford had a hit, Conor
Gillaspie had a hit and Grant Green had a hit.
Jarrett Parker drew two walks, Mac Williamson had a hit and an RBI and
Gregor Blanco had a hit.
In the first
Castro hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead. In the second Beltran hit an RBI single to
extend the lead to 2-0. In the seventh a
wild pitch cut the lead to 2-1 and in the eighth Williamson hit an RBI double
to tie the game at two. In the bottom of
the eighth Romine grounded into a force out and an error happened also. The Yankees scored a run and made it 3-2
which would be the final score.
The two teams
will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.
