New York Yankees lose to the Cleveland Indians to even series



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Cleveland Indians on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2.  CC Sabathia started and he pitched ok and the bullpen wasn't great.  Brett Gardner and Aaron Hicks each had two hits. 

Sabathia pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Sabathia lost his ninth game of the season.  Anthony Swarzak pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Chasen Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Nick Goody pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks.  Dellin Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Corey Kluber pitched eight innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  He won his 11th game of the season.  Andrew Miller earned his tenth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Gardner had two hits and drew a walk, Starlin Castro had a hit and Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI.  Hicks had two hits, Sanchez hit a double and the Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Hicks was caught stealing and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Rajai Davis had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Jeff Kipnis had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Francisco Lindor had two hits.  Mike Napoli had a hit and an RBI, Carlos Santana had two hits and drew a walk and Jose Ramirez had a  hit.  Brandon Guyer drew a walk, Lonnie Chisenhall drew a walk and Abraham Almonte drew a walk.  Kipnis, Napoli and Davis each hit a homerun and the Indians were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Kipnis and Lindor each had a stolen base, Almonte had an outfield assist. 

In the second Sanchez hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second a wild pitch made it 2-0 Yankees.  In the fourth Kipnis hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  Davis hit an RBI single to tie the game in the fifth and in the sixth Napoli hit a solo homerun to give the Indians a 3-2 lead.  Davis hit a solo homerun in the seventh and in the ninth Kipnis hit an RBI single making it 5-2 and that would be the final score. 

The series is tied at one game each and the rubber game will be on Sunday afternoon.
