The New York
Yankees were defeated by the New York Mets on Thursday night. The game took place at Citi Field in
Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-1.
Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and he pitched ok really having
one bad inning. Bartolo Colon started
for the Mets and pitched really well.
Jay Bruce led the Mets with a three run homerun and Gary Sanchez had two
hits for the Yankees.
Eovaldi pitched
seven innings giving up four runs on five hits.
He walked two and struck out five and lost his eighth game of the
season. Adam Warren pitched an inning
giving up a hit and he struck out one and Anthony Swarzak pitched a perfect
inning with two strikeouts.
Colon pitched 6
2/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with no walks and a strikeout. Colon won his tenth game of the season. Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving
up a hit, Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and
Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up two hits and saved his 38th game of
the season.
Jacoby Ellsbury
had two hits, Chase Headley had a hit and Brian McCann had a hit. Starlin Castro had a hit, Didi Gregorius had
a hit and Sanchez had two hits. Aaron
Hicks had a hit and an RBI, Sanchez hit a double and the Yankees were 1-8 with
runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
Curtis
Granderson had a hit and drew a walk, Alejandro De Aza drew a walk and Neil
Walker had a hit. Bruce had a hit and
three RBI, James Loney had a hit and Travis d'Arnaud had a hit. Kelly Johnson had a hit and an RBI,
Granderson hit a double and Johnson and Bruce hit a homerun. The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring
position and left five men on base.
In the fifth
Johnson hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead. Bruce hit a three run homerun and it was 4-0
Mets. The Yankees scored their only run
in the seventh on a Hicks RBI single and 4-1 would be the final score.
The two teams split the four games, two games splits at Citi
Field and here at Yankee Stadium. The
Mets head to Detroit for a three game weekend series and the Yankees remain at
home to take on the Cleveland Indians.
