The New York Mets defeated the
Washington Nationals on Sunday night.
The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final
score was 5-1. Seth Lugo started for the
Mets and pitched very well and the bullpen did their job. Curtis Granderson had three RBI and Wilmer
Flores and Jay Bruce each had two hits.
Lugo won his third game of the
season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and a run. He walked none and struck out four. Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up two
hits and he struck out one and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit
and he struck out two.
Reynaldo Lopez pitched four innings
giving up six hits and three runs. He
walked one and struck out three and lost his third game of the season. Mat Latos pitched two innings giving up three
hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Trevor Gott pitched a perfect inning and
Matt Grace pitched to one batter and retired him. Rafael Martin pitched to one batter and
retired him and Sean Burnett also pitched to one batter and retired him.
Jose Reyes drew a walk, Asdrubal
Cabrera had a hit and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit. Granderson had a hit and three RBI, Flores
had two hits and Bruce had two hits and two RBI. James Loney had a hit, Lugo had a hit and
Flores hit a double. Granderson and
Bruce each hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position
and left four men on base.
Trea Turner had a hit, Jayson Werth
had two hits and Daniel Murphy had a hit.
Anthony Rendon had a hit, Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and Daniel Espinosa
had a hit and an RBI. Lopez had a hit,
Brian Goodwin had a hit and it was a double.
Espinosa hit a homerun and the Nationals were 0-8 with runners in
scoring position and left nine men on base.
Turner had an outfield assist.
In the first Granderson hit a sac
fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.
Espinosa hit a solo homerun in the second to tie the game at one. In the third Granderson hit a two run homerun
to give the Mets a 3-1 lead. In the
sixth Bruce hit a two run homerun and it was 5-1 Mets which would be the final
score.
The Mets took two out of three in
this series and will head to Cincinnati to face the Reds.
