The New York Mets defeated the
Cincinnati Reds on Monday afternoon. The
game took place at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio and the final
score was 5-0. Bartolo Colon started for
the Mets and he pitched great, the bullpen was good as well. Wilmer Flores had three hits and Matt
Reynolds had three hits.
Colon pitched six innings giving up
five hits and no runs with a walk and he struck out two. Colon won his 13th game of the season. Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a
hit and he struck out one, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two
hits and he struck out two and Fernando Salas pitched 1 1/3 innings.
Robert Stephenson pitched 5 1/3
innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and nine strikeouts. He lost his first game of the season. Wandy Peralta pitched to two batters and
retired them both, Alfredo Simon pitched an inning giving up three hits and
three runs with a walk and Keyvius Sampson pitched an inning striking out
one. Ross Ohlendorf pitched an inning
giving up a hit and he struck out one.
Alejandro De Aza had an RBI,
Michael Conforto drew a walk and Flores had three hits. Kelly Johnson had a hit and an RBI, Travis d'Arnaud
had a hit and drew a walk and James Loney had a hit. Reynolds had three hits and two RBI, Asdrubal
Cabrera had a hit and an RBI and Flores hit a double. Reynolds and Johnson hit a homerun. The Mets were 3-4 with runners in scoring
position and left four men on base.
Jose Peraza had two hits, Joey
Votto had a hit and drew a walk and Brandon Phillips had a hit. Scott Schebler had a hit, Eugenio Suarez had
a hit and Tucker Barnhart had a hit.
Hernan Iribarren had a hit, Barnhart hit a double and Iribarren hit a
triple and the Reds were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven
men on base. Duvall had an outfield
assist.
In the third Reynolds hit a solo
homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the fifth Johnson hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 2-0. In the seventh Reynolds hit an RBI single and
the lead was 3-0. Cabrera hit an RBI
single to push the lead to 4-0 and De Aza hit a sac fly to make it 5-0 still in
the seventh. That would be the final
score.
The two teams will play game two of
three on Tuesday night.
