The New York Yankees were defeated
by the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night.
The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final
score was 2-0. CC Sabathia started for the
Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen did a good job. The Yankees offense didn't do much of
anything.
Sabathia pitched six innings giving
up six hits and two runs with only one of them being earned. He walked two and struck out one and lost his
12th game of the season. Adam Warren
pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts and Tyler
Clippard pitched a scoreless inning giving up two walks and he struck out two.
Kevin Gausman pitched six innings
giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and eight strikeouts. He won his seventh game of the season. Mychal Givens pitched an inning giving up a
hit, Brad Brach pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and
Zach Britton pitched an inning striking out one and he saved his 40th game of
the season.
Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk, Gary
Sanchez had a hit and Starlin Castro had a hit.
Brian McCann had a hit, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Chase Headley had a
hit. The Yankees were 0-2 with runners in
scoring position and left five men on base.
Judge committed an error.
Adam Jones had two hits and an RBI,
Steve Pearce drew two walks and Manny Machado had a hit. Mark Trumbo had a hit and drew a walk, Chris
Davis had a hit and J.J. Hardy had two hits and drew a walk. Nolan Reimold drew a walk, Michael Bourn had
a hit and Machado, Trumbo and Hardy each hit a double. Jones hit a homerun and the Orioles were 2-9
with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.
In the fourth Davis hit an RBI
single to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.
In the fifth Jones hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0 and that
would be the final score.
The two teams will play game three
of the series on Sunday afternoon. The
Yankees will try and salvage the sweep before returning home on Monday to face
the Blue Jays.
