The New York Mets defeated the
Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon. The
game took place at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was
2-1. Seth Lugo started for the Mets and
he pitched well and the bullpen did their job.
Michael Conforto had two hits to lead the offense.
Lugo pitched seven innings giving
up six hits and a run. He walked two and
struck out six and won his first game of the season. Jerry Blevins pitched an inning with a
strikeout and Addison Reed pitched an inning with two strikeouts and saved his
11th game of the season.
Jaime Garcia started for the Braves
and pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and
nine strikeouts and lost his fifth game of the season. Arodys Vizcaino pitched a perfect inning,
Jose Ramirez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Ian Krol
pitched to one batter and retired him.
Conforto had two hits, Juan Lagares
had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had an RBI. Jay Bruce had a hit, Neil Walker had a hit
and drew a walk and Asdrubal Cabrera drew a walk. Jose Reyes had a hit and drew a walk, Lugo
had a hit and Curtis Granderson had a hit.
Conforto, Lugo and Bruce each hit a double. The Mets were 2-12 with runners in scoring
position and left eight men on base.
Reyes had a stolen base and was caught stealing.
Ender Inciarte had a hit and drew a
walk, Nick Markakis had two hits and Matt Kemp had a hit and drew a walk. Tyler Flowers had a hit, Dansby Swanson had
an RBI and Garcia had a hit. Flowers hit
a double and the Braves were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left
seven men on base.
In the first Flores hit a sac fly
giving the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the
second Swanson hit a sac fly to tie the game at one and in the third Lagares
hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 2-1 lead which would hold up as that would
be the final score.
The Mets will begin a series with the Chicago
Cubs on Monday night at Citi Field
