The New York Mets were defeated by
the Atlanta Braves on Friday night. The
game took place at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was
3-2. Matt Harvey started and he pitched
very well and the bullpen wasn’t very good.
Jay Bruce led the offense with two hits.
Harvey pitched five shutout innings
giving up four hits and he walked two and struck out three. Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up two
hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched a perfect
inning and Fernando Salas lost his second game of the season pitching 1 1/3
innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. Josh Edgin pitched to one batter and gave up
a hit.
Julio Teheran pitched six innings
giving up four hits and a run with three walks and three strikeouts. Eric O’Flaherty pitched to one batter and
struck him out, Jason Motte pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run,
Ian Krol pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Jose Ramirez pitched
to one batter and retired him. Jim
Johnson won his fourth game of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a
strikeout.
Bruce had two hits, Wilmer Flores
drew a walk and Lucas Duda drew a walk.
Curtis Granderson had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Travis d’Arnaud
had a hit and an RBI and Harvey had a hit.
Bruce hit a double and Granderson and d’Arnaud each hit a homerun. The Mets were 0-6 with runners in scoring
position and left six men on base.
Granderson had a stolen base.
Nick Markakis had a hit, Matt Kemp
had three hits and Matt Adams drew a walk.
Danny Santana had two hits and drew a walk, Dansby Swanson had two hits,
two RBI and drew a walk and Rio Ruiz had a hit and an RBI. Kemp hit a double and Swanson hit two doubles
and the Braves were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on
base. Kemp was caught stealing.
In the third Granderson hit a solo
homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the sixth Swanson hit a two-run double to give the Braves a 2-1 lead. In the seventh d’Arnaud hit a solo homerun to
tie the game at two. In the ninth Ruiz
hit an RBI single to give the Braves a 3-2 lead.
The Mets and Braves will play a
double header on Saturday afternoon.
