New York Yankees run away late from the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-2.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  Brett Gardner, Aaron Hicks, Matt Holliday and Gary Sanchez each had two hits. 

Montgomery pitched seven innings giving up five hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out eight and he won his fourth game of the season.  Tyler Clippard pitched a perfect inning and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning with a walk and he struck out one. 

Dylan Bundy lost his fifth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up five hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out six.  Edwin Jackson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three unearned runs and he walked one and Stefan Crichton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk. 

Gardner had two hits, Hicks had two hits and three RBI and Aaron Judge drew a walk.  Holliday had two hits and an RBI, Starlin Castro had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Sanchez had two hits.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Chase Headley had an RBI and drew two walks and Austin Romine had a hit and two RBI.  Gardner, Sanchez and Holliday each hit a double.  Castro hit a homerun and Hicks hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Adam Jones had a hit, Chris Davis drew two walks and Jonathan Schoop had a hit and two RBI.  J.J. Hardy had a hit, Ruben Tejada had two hits and Tejada hit a double and Schoop hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Jackson committed an error and Trumbo had an outfield assist. 

In the second Schoop hit a two-run homerun to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Castro hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  Headley hit a sac fly to tie the game at two.  In the sixth Hicks hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the seventh Hicks hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-2.  Holliday hit an RBI double to make it 6-2.  In the eighth Romine hit a two-run single pushing the lead to 8-2.  The Yankees and Orioles will play game two of three on Saturday night.
