The New York Yankees defeated the
Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 6-1. Jordan Montgomery started for
the Yankees and he pitched well. Starlin
Castro led the offense with three hits.
Montgomery pitched six innings
giving up six hits and a run. He walked
one and struck out five and won his ninth game of the season. Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with two
strikeouts, David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck
out one and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning.
Blake Snell pitched an inning
giving up four hits and four runs with four walks and a strikeout. Snell lost his seventh game of the
season. Chaz Roe pitched two innings
giving up a walk and he struck out two, Andrew Kittredge pitched an inning
giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Brad Boxberger pitched an
inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.
Sergio Romo pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dan
Jennings pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Austin
Pruitt pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks.
Aaron Hicks had an RBI and drew
three walks, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Gary Sanchez
had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. Matt Holliday
had a hit and an RBI, Castro had three hits and an RBI and drew a walk and Todd
Frazier had a hit. Clint Frazier had a
hit, Ronald Torreyes had two hits and drew a walk and Judge and Torreyes each
hit a double. Castro hit a homerun and
the Yankees were 3-15 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on
base. Hicks and Judge each had a stolen
base.
Kevin Kiermaier had two hits,
Steven Souza Jr. had three hits and drew a walk and Evan Longoria drew a
walk. Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI,
and the Rays were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on
base.
In the first Ramos hit a sac fly to
give the Rays a 1-0 lead. In the second
Castro hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one. Hicks drew an RBI walk, Judge drew an RBI
walk and a wild pitch made it 4-1 in the second. In the eighth Sanchez hit an RBI single to
increase the lead to 5-1. Holliday hit
an RBI single to push the lead to 6-1 and that would be the final score.
The two teams will play game two of
three on Wednesday night.
