The Mets drop one to the Philadelphia Phillies


The New York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 6-2.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Nori Aoki, Asdrubal Cabrera and Juan Lagares each had two hits to lead the offensive attack. 

Harvey lost his seventh game of the season pitching four innings and giving up seven hits and four runs.  He walked three and struck out three.  Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs, Kevin McGowan pitched a perfect inning and Jacob Rhame pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Ben Lively pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with a strikeout and he won his fourth game of the season.  Adam Morgan pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two, Luis Garcia pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Edubray Ramos pitched an inning giving up two hits. 

Aoki had two hits, Jose Reyes had a hit and an RBI and Cabrera had two hits.  Travis d’Arnaud had a hit, Dominic Smith had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Lagares had two hits.  Phillip Evans had a hit, Reyes and Smith each hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Cabrera committed an error and Lagares had an outfield assist. 

Cesar Hernandez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Freddy Galvis had a hit and drew a walk and Nick Williams had two hits.  Rhys Hoskins had a hit, Odubel Herrera had two hits and an RBI and Maikel Franco had a hit and two RBI.  Jorge Alfaro had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Alfaro hit a double and Franco, Alfaro and Hernandez each hit a homerun.  The Phillies were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Reyes hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Franco hit a two-run homerun to give the Phillies a 2-1 lead.  In the third Herrera hit a sac fly to extend the Phillies lead to 3-1.  A balk made the score 4-1.  In the fifth Smith hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2.  In the sixth Alfaro hit a solo homerun and Hernandez hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score.
