Yankees win a wild one over the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday afternoon.  The game took place at Dunedin Stadium in Dunedin, Florida and the final score was 9-8.  Chad Green started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Austin Romine had a couple of hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with no walks and three strikeouts.  Trevor Lane pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk, David Hale pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and J.P. Feyereisen pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Raynel Espinal pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Adonis Rosa pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and he picked up the win and Josh Rogers pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs.  Cale Coshow pitched to two batteres and retired them both. 

Mark Payton had a hit and three RBI, Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI and Abiatal Avelino drew a walk.  Ryan McBroom had a hit and an RBI, Daniel Espinosa had a hit and an RBI and Tyler Wade had a hit and drew a walk.  Romine had two hits, Kyle Higashioka drew a walk and Billy McKinney drew a walk.  Estevan Florial had a hit and drew a walk, Shane Robinson had a hit and an RBI and Romine hit two doubles and Payton hit a double.  Florial hit a triple and Espinosa, Andujar and McBroom each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Wade had a stolen base and Higashioka committed an error and McKinney and Ellsbury each had an outfield assist. 

In the second Russell Martin hit a solo homerun to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Espinosa hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one and a wild pitched scored another run to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Kevin Pillar hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Aledmys Diaz hit an RBI single to give the Jays a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Andujar hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the sixth Anthony Alford hit an RBI triple to give the Jays back the lead at 4-3.  J.D. Davis hit an RBI single to push the Jays lead to 5-3.  In the seventh Robinson hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-4.  IN the eighth McBroom hit a solo homerun to tie the game at five.  A wild pitch made it a 6-5 game and Payton hit a three-run double to increase the Yankees lead to 9-5.  In the eighth Reese McGuire hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 9-6.  In the ninth Jason Leblebijian hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 9-8 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees ran their spring record to 5-0.
