The New York Yankees defeated the
Anaheim Angels on Sunday night. The game
took place at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California and the final score was
2-1. CC Sabathia started for the Yankees
and he pitched great. Gary Sanchez led
the offense with a two-run homerun and Giancarlo Stanton had a good night.
Sabathia pitched seven innings
giving up a run on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Sabathia picked up his second win of the
season. Chad Green pitched an inning
giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched an
inning with a walk and two strikeouts and he saved his sixth game of the
season.
Tyler Skaggs pitched 5 1/3 innings
giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and eight strikeouts. Skaggs lost his second game of the
season. Justin Anderson pitched 1 2/3
innings giving up a walk and he struck out three, Jose Alvarez pitched a perfect
inning and Cam Bedrosian pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out
two.
Stanton had a hit and drew a walk,
Sanchez had a hit and two RBI and Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk. Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk,
Stanton and Hicks each hit a double and Sanchez hit a homerun. The Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring
position and left five men on base. Gregorius
committed an error.
Ian Kinsler had a hit, Mike Trout
drew two walks and Justin Upton had a hit.
Albert Pujols had a hit, Andrelton Simmons had a hit and Zach Cozart had
a hit. Chris Young drew a walk, Rene
Rivera had a hit and Kinsler hit a double and the Angels were 0-6 with runners
in scoring position and left nine men on base.
Young had a stolen base.
In the fourth Sanchez hit a two-run
homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.
In the sixth a wild pitch cut the lead to 2-1 and that would be the
final score.
The Yankees completed the three
game sweep and will now head to Houston for four beginning on Monday
night.
