The New York Yankees defeated the
Houston Astros on Tuesday night. The game
took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was
4-0. Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees
and he only lasted an inning and came out with an injury. The bullpen pitched well and Didi Gregorius
and Gary Sanchez each had two hits to lead the offense.
Montgomery pitched a perfect inning. Domingo German pitched four innings giving up
four hits and a walk and he struck out four.
Chad Green pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Dellin Betances
pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out the side and David Robertson
pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and picked up his second
win of the season. Aroldis Chapman
pitched a perfect inning striking out the side.
Justin Verlander pitched eight
innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and 14 strikeouts. Ken Giles took the loss pitching 1/3 of an inning
and giving up four hits and four runs with a strikeout and Will Harris pitched
2/3 of an inning retiring both batters that he faced.
Aaron Judge had a hit, Gregorius
had two hits and Sanchez had two hits and three RBI. Aaron Hicks had a hit, Miguel Andujar had a
hit and Gregorius hit a double and Sanchez hit a homerun. The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring
position and left four men on base.
Hicks had a stolen base.
George Springer had a hit, Jose
Altuve had a hit and Carlos Correa drew a walk.
Yuri Gurriel had two hits, Marwin Gonzalez had a hit and Jake Marisnick
had a hit. Marisnick hit a double and
the Astros were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on
base.
In the ninth Sanchez broke up a
scoreless game with a three-run homerun and a wild pitch scored a fourth run to
give the Yankees a 4-0 lead and that would be the final score.
The two teams have split the first
two games and will play game three of four on Wednesday night.
