New York Yankees shutout the Houston Astros for second straight game


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-0.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Giancarlo Stanton was the offense star with three hits including two homeruns. 

Severino pitched a complete game shutout.  He gave up five hits and a walk and struck out ten.  Severino improved his record to 5-1. 

Dallas Keuchel lost his fifth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and three runs with five strikeouts.  Hector Rondon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Colin McHugh pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Stanton had three hits and four RBI, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a couple of hits, Judge, Romine, Hicks and Stanton each hit a double and Stanton hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Hicks had a stolen base. 

Jose Altuve had a hit, Yuri Gurriel had a hit and Josh Reddick had two hits.  Alex Bregman had a hit, Marwin Gonzalez drew a walk and Reddick hit a double and the Astros were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Bregman committed an error and Reddick had an outfield assist. 

In the first Stanton hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Stanton hit a solo homerun to make it 3-0 and in the eighth Stanton hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 4-0 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will close out the series with a game on Thursday afternoon.  The Yankees are looking to finish by winning the series and go 6-1 on the road trip.
