New York Yankees pound the Seattle Mariners


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-2.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Aaron Hicks had three hits and Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar each had two hits to lead the offense. 

German won his second game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out nine.  A.J. Cole pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts. 

Marco Gonzales pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and six runs with a walk and five strikeouts and lost his fourth game of the season.  Nick Rumbelow pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with three strikeouts. 

Hicks had three hits and two RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Torres had two hits and an RBI and Andujar had two hits and two RBI.  Clint Frazier had a hit, Stanton, Andujar, Hicks and Torres each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Gregorius committed an error. 

Dee Gordon had a hit, Mitch Haniger had an RBI and Nelson Cruz had a hit and an RBI.  Gordon hit a double and Cruz hit a homerun and the Mariners were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left one on base.  Haniger had a stolen base. 

In the first Haniger lined into a force out and a run scored to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Stanton hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Andujar hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  Hicks hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-1.  In the seventh Cruz hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-2 and in the bottom of the seventh Judge hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 6-2 and in the eighth Torres hit a solo homerun to make it 7-2 and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Wednesday night.
