The New York Yankees defeated the
New York Mets on Saturday night. The game
took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was
4-3. Domingo German started for the Yankees
and after a rough first inning he settled down and pitched well and the bullpen
was great. Steven Matz started for the Mets
and he pitched ok. The Yankee offense
produced three more homeruns and after the first inning the Mets offense
continued to do not much.
German pitched six innings giving
up five hits and three runs with no walks and nine strikeouts. David Robertson won his fifth game of the
season pitching an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dellin
Betances pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman won
his 17th game of the season pitching an inning with two walks and
two strikeouts.
Matz pitched six innings giving up
five hits and three runs with four walks and six strikeouts. Robert Gsellman pitched an inning with a
walk, Anthony Swarzak lost his first game of the season pitching an inning and
giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts and Jerry Blevins pitched an
inning with a walk and a strikeout.
Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a
walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk. Gary Sanchez drew a walk, Miguel Andujar had
two hits and two RBI and Didi Gregorius had three hits. German drew a walk, Brett Gardner drew a walk
and Gleyber Torres had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. Hicks hit a double and Torres, Andujar and
Judge each hit a homerun. The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position
and left six men on base. Torres was
caught stealing and Hicks was picked off.
Amed Rosario had a hit, Todd Frazier
had a hit and an RBI and Brandon Nimmo had a hit. Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and two RBI, Jay Bruce
drew a walk and Adrian Gonzalez had a hit.
Kevin Plawecki had a hit and drew a walk, Plawecki hit a double and
Gonzalez hit a double. Nimmo hit a
triple and Frazier and Cabrera each hit a homerun. The Mets were 1-9 with runners in scoring
position and left six men on base. Rosario
had a stolen base and Matz and Blevins each had a pickoff.
In the first Frazier and Cabrera
each hit a homerun to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.
In the third Torres hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1. In the sixth Andujar hit a two-run homerun to
tie the game at three and in the eighth Judge hit a solo homerun to give the
Yankees a 4-3 lead and that would be the final score.
The Yankees have taken the first two
games of the series to win another series and will look for the three-game sweep
on Sunday night. The Yankees have only
lost 1 of their last 15 series.
