New York Mets take finale in Miami over the Marlins


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Sunday.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 6-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets bullpen pitched well and Robinson Cano led the offense with four hits. 

deGrom won his fifth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up six hits and a run.  He walked three and struck out six.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Jeurys Familia pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked two and Seth Lugo pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.  Robert Gsellman pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Sandy Alcantara pitched six innings giving up nine hits and four runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Alcantara lost his ninth game of the season.  Elieser Hernandez pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Wei-Yin Chen pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and Sergio Romo pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Jeff McNeil had a hit and two RBI, Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI and Pete Alonso had an RBI.  Cano had four hits and an RBI, Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew a walk and Todd Frazier had a hit.  Adeiny Hechavarria had two hits and an RBI and deGrom drew a walk.  Luis Guillorme had a hit, Amed Rosario had a hit and Cano and Rosario each hit a double.  McNeil and Cano each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 3-14 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  McNeil had an outfield assist. 

Miguel Rojas had three hits and an RBI, Neil Walker had a hit and Garrett Cooper had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Brian Anderson had a hit, Starlin Castro had two hits and Curtis Granderson drew a walk.  Cesar Puello had a hit, Bryan Holaday had a hit and drew a walk and Anderson hit a double.  Cooper hit a homerun and the Marlins were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Cooper committed an error. 

In the first McNeil hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  IN the second Rojas hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Hechavaria hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  Conforto hit an RBI single and the lead was extended to 3-1.  In the sixth McNeil reached on a fielder’s choice and the score was 4-1 Mets.  Cano hit a solo homerun in the seventh to push the lead to 5-1.  In the eighth Alonso hit a sac fly to make it 6-1.  In the ninth Cooper hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score.
