The New York Mets defeated the
Colorado Rockies on Sunday. The game
took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 2-1. Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he
pitched very well. Pete Alonso and
Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the offense.
Stroman pitched eight innings
giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts. Stroman earned his third win of the
season. Edwin Diaz pitched an inning
giving up a hit and he earned his second save of the season.
Antonio Senzatela started for the
Rockies and he pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs with one
being earned. He struck out four batters
and took his third loss of the season.
Robert Stephenson pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Mychal
Givens pitched an inning giving up a hit and Daniel Bard pitched an inning
giving up a hit and he struck out two.
Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Alonso had
two hits and Conforto had two hits. Jeff
McNeil had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI and Conforto and
McNeil each hit a double. The Mets were
1-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Nimmo had a stolen base.
Raimel Tapia had a hit, Trevor
Story had two hits and Charlie Blackmon had a hit and an RBI. Dom Nunez drew a walk, Story hit a double and
the Rockies were 1-1 with runners in scoring position and left two men on
base. Story was caught stealing and Cron
committed an error. Blackmon had an
outfield assist.
In the second McNeil hit an RBI
ground out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth Davis hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0. In the bottom of the seventh Blackmon hit an
RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1 and that would be the final score.
