The New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta
Braves on Tuesday night. The game took
place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-1. Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and
he pitched well. The Yankees bullpen was
great and the offense showed a little life late but still only managed five
hits.
Taillon pitched five innings giving
up four hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts. Lucas Luetge pitched an inning giving up two walks,
Chad Green pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two
and Justin Wilson pitched to one batter and got him out. Jonathan Loaisiga won his second game of the
season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. Aroldis Chapman earned his second save of the
season pitching an inning with a walk and two strikeouts.
Charlie Morton started for the
Braves and he pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks
and six strikeouts. A.J. Minter pitched
a perfect inning, Tyler Matzek pitched giving up two hits and two runs with a
walk and he took his second loss of the season and Nate Jones pitched an inning
giving up two walks.
DJ LeMahieu had two hits, Aaron
Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton drew two walks. Mike Ford had an RBI and drew a walk, Gio
Urshela had two hits and an RBI and Aaron Hicks drew a pinch-hit walk. Urshela hit a double and a homerun. The Yankees
were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
Ehire Adrianza had a hit and an
RBI, Freddie Freeman had a hit and Travis d’Arnaud drew a walk. Ozzie Albies drew a walk, Pablo Sandoval had
a hit and drew a walk and Austin Riley had a hit and drew a walk. Guillermo Heredia had two hits including a
double and Adrianza hit a double. The
Braves were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on
base.
In the third Adrianza hit an RBI
double to give the Braves a 1-0 lead. In
the fifth Urshela hit a solo homerun tying the game at one. In the eighth a wild pitch brought home a run
for the Yankees to make it 2-1 and then Ford drew an RBI walk to push the lead
to 3-1. 3-1 was the final score as the
Yankees finally ended their five-game losing streak. The two teams will play game two and the
final game of the series on Wednesday night.
