The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night. The game took place
at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-0. Jameson Taillon started for the
Yankees making his first start of the season and he pitched well, the bullpen used two relievers and they
looked good as well. The offense only managed four hits and two by Joey Gallo.
Taillon pitched five innings giving up five hits and two runs with no walks and six strikeouts. Taillon
took his first loss of the season. Michael King pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with
three strikeouts and Ron Marinaccio pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout.
Alek Manoah started for the Blue Jays and was great pitching six innings and giving up a hit and no runs.
He walked four and struck out seven and won his first game of the season. Trevor Richards pitched 1/3
of an inning giving up a hit and he walked one, Adam Cimber pitched 1 2/3 innings with a strikeout
and Jordan Romano earned his third save of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits with
strikeout.
Anthony Rizzo drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Gallo had two hits. Gleyber Torres had a hit.
Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk, Marwin Gonzalez drew a walk and the Yankees were 0-4 with
runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.
George Springer had three hits and three RBI, Teoscar Hernandez had three hits and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
had a hit. Santiago Espinal had three hits, Hernandez and Springer each hit a double and Springer hit a
homerun. The Blue Jays were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Espinal
had a stolen base.
In the third inning Springer hit a two-run homerun to give the Jays a 2-0 lead. In the seventh Springer
hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 3-0 and that would be the final score.
