The New York Yankees defeated the Texas
Rangers on Saturday afternoon. The game
took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 1-0. Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he
pitched great as well as the bullpen.
Billy McKinney hit a homerun as the only run of the game.
Severino pitched six innings giving
up five hits and no runs with two walks and four strikeouts. Severino earned his first win of the
season. Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect
inning, Wandy Peralta pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and he struck
out one and Clay Holmes pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout. Ron Marinaccio pitched an inning giving up a
hit and a walk with two strikeouts and he earned his second save of the
season.
Jon Gray started for the Rangers
and he pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and
four strikeouts. Gray lost his third
game of the season. Grant Anderson pitched
two innings giving up a hit and he struck out four and J. Barlow pitched a
perfect inning.
Gleyber Torres drew a walk,
Harrison Bader had a hit and Anthony Rizzo had a hit. Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, McKinney had a
hit and an RBI and Anthony Volpe drew a walk.
McKinney hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring
position and left five men on base.
Bauers had an outfield assist.
Marcus Semien had three hits, Corey
Seager had a hit and Nathaniel Lowe drew a walk. Adolis Garcia had a hit and drew a walk, Josh
Jung had a hit and Jonah Heim had two hits.
Mitch Garver drew a walk, Heim hit a double and the Rangers were 1-9
with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.
In the bottom of the fourth
McKinney hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead and that would be the
only run scored in the game. The two
teams will play the rubber game of the series on Sunday afternoon.
